A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a flexible, tax-smart way to give that allows you to support the causes you care about while maximizing your philanthropic impact. Setting one up with United Way of Forsyth County is simple:

1. Connect With Us
Reach out to our philanthropy team to discuss your giving goals, the causes you care about, and how a DAF can help you achieve them.

2. Establish Your Fund
We’ll guide you through the process of setting up your Donor Advised Fund. You choose the name of the fund—many donors name it after their family, business, or in honor of someone special.

3. Make Your Contribution
You can open your fund with cash, appreciated securities, or other eligible assets. Your contribution may qualify for an immediate tax deduction while allowing you to recommend grants over time.

4. Recommend Grants
At your own pace, recommend grants from your DAF to United Way programs or other qualified nonprofit organizations that align with your philanthropic vision.

5. Track Your Impact
We provide regular updates on the grants made and the difference your generosity is making in Forsyth and Dawson Counties—and beyond.
